A man on death row with time running extremely short has comes to terms with his impending death realizes death won't be coming to him but instead something worse.
Matt Shaw may not be the best writer around, but the short stories they produce are usually good enough to justify the buck for admission.
This short book is no different, it's exactly what I expect from Matt Shaw and that's perfectly okay.
Short take you twenty minutes at the most to read story, starts off with a guy eating a steak which he didn't believe would be as good as it is. His life isn't going to get better after that meal, in fact is supposed to be over. But will it? The story is a little predictable overall, but still a great read. The second book I've read by Matt Shaw, it won't be my last.
A unique book in Shaw's bibliography, Box lays it all out in the tagline as " A Psychological Horror" story.
The physical torture Matt is known for is replaced here with mind games. A departure that went in the right direction and worthwhile.

I have several books by this author and I can tell you he is one awesome dude! He has yet to produce a book I have not loved. Everything about this book just scream psychological thriller and it's a complete crazy ride at the end it leaves you shaking your head and thinking WOW!
Well, this short little story really makes you think. Would you do the same things if you were in the main character's shoes? At the beginning, it was evocative of The Green Mile. It quickly detoured into something much more sinister. There really is no clear-cut ending, so I think readers are open to interpret it as they see fit.
I agree that the e-book story Box is a psychological horror. I will give Frank credit he understood that since he did the crime, he had to pay the price. The key question is he in hell or somewhere else? I know that hell is a place of punishment but did he really deserve the punishment for the crime he committed? I do not think that too many men could walk away and do nothing if they caught someone having sex with their wife. All I can say is this is a very deep story that leaves you wondering what hell is and did Frank deserve the punishment?
